I, Herry have decided to give up singing. Eventho I really love to sing and put the right emphasis on the lyrics, I didn't want to bring the overall sound of Yawp down anymore. I just lack the energy. Currently we're looking for a new singer and I will keep playing guitar. It's the intention that Yawp will be as loud and energetic again as we used to be. And that we will do more shows in the near future.

Eventho Faber's stay was just very temporary, we regretted his decision to leave Yawp. Still everything became brighter again now we have Kevin as our new drummer.Welcome to Kevin!

Yawp welcomes Faber as the new drummer. Yesterday, August 13th, 2008 we had our first rehearsal and this guy appeared to be just what we had hoped for. Yawp had already decided to continue, and we now have done so. Hopefully you will be able to hear from us soon.

Yawp has decided to continue playing. Although we know Erik will never be forgotten, and cannot be replaced, we also feel like Erik would've wanted it this way. Or to say it in Anouk's words, who was Erik partner, "Erik would be very angry if you guys wouldn't go on". Still, Yawp needs some time to recover from this blow. Hopefully it will not take too much time, before we can do some shows in the honour of Erik!

In the meantime Herry has decided that he does not want to go on singing with yawp, and wants to revert to guitar and backing-vocals, and maybe sing a single song. We asked our former bassplayer, Daan, to take over on mike. He already did so on the tracks "below zero attitude", and "Internal political Affairs", which made him our favorite candidate. Daan has accepted our offer, so we welcome him as a re-newed Yawp member.

Erik Jansen has died (21-06-1967 17-04-2008)
Erik Jansen, drummer for amongst others Gepopel, Yawp, Funeral Oration and many more bands, died in the early morning of April 17th, 2008. On friday April 12th Erik fell down the stairs of his home and ended up in coma. After 4 days of struggling for his life a far too soon end came to the life of this remarkable drummer.
In the early 80's Erik started his drumming career with the West-friese Gepopel. In this band he played with Niels (Sack-o-Woes) and Wil (Funeral Oration) hardcore punk. After the split of Gepopel, Erik, Herry (Deadlock) and Rolf started Yawp in 1986. Erik en Herry played with this line-up until this sorrowful day (22 years and 1 month!) (just Rolf quit temporarily). In those 22 years Yawp released 4 albums and 2 singles and did an Australian tour (in 1996).
Besides Yawp Erik played many years with Funeral Oration, with whom he did a few American and Germa tours and recorded 3 albums.
After Erik got RSI in 2001, which rendered him unable to drum for a few years, Yawp's reputation dropped rapidly. Many people thought we had split up. The last few years we were working hard to get Yawp back on the road again, but mainly because of our inability to manage to band and arrange shows, our stage-experience kinda slipped through our hands. A good example of this was out latest show at the Baarmoeder (Amsterdam), which was regretfully Erik's last show as well.
Besides Erik's drumming in Yawp, he was also one of my best friends. I've know him for about 25 years and we went through heaps of things together.
Erik's life slogan was "Life your life to the max!" and so he did. He used to say he wanted to have done anything he dreamt of and regret nothing. In that, he fairly well succeeded. And without playing the drums, his life would be worthless to him.
Erik, dude, Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten!!! As a friend, as a collegue, as a human...
We wish Anouk, Nathalie, Stefan, all family and friends and ourselves all strength in this painful time...

Yawp speelt op het waarschijnlijk laatste festival in de Baarmoeder, in Amsterdam. Helaas moet dit pand plaats maken voor het grootkapitaal en wordt het enthousiasme van een nieuwe generatie punks weer verknald. Het is toch jammer dat er zo weinig ruimte is voor dit soort subculturen, en dat een stel egoisten met te veel geld koste wat het kost met liefde dromen kapot maken.

Guestbook now works again (with captcha). I thought I had used a good spamblocking method, but it was too good. It actually kept everybody from leaving a message. Well, due to those sickening assholes I had to install a new method to keep them out! Hope it works for some time. If you ever meet a spammer, kick his ass!

On December 15th 2007 there will be a Joe Strummer memorial at the Maloe Melo in Amsterdam. (1 week before his 5 year death). Yawp will be performing a couple of Clash songs, together with a number of other bands. So take your diary and write it down.

Today was Benno's funeral. Benno's family, Marc and Theo organised it. Great thanks for this. Benno will never be forgotten. Deep grief will eventually be replaced by a monumental memory of a man who was a friend you could rely on. And no matter how thick his beard was, it could never hide his everlasting smile. R.I.P.

Just heard the sad news that our friend BENNO has died in an accident. Being on tour with the Rolling Stones, as a stage-roadie, he was killed while the stage he was working on collapsed.

Sunday december 10th Pinochet died. Eventho the world had become a little bit more of a better place, he still completed his life not punished for done cruelty. Now, for the man that didn't know what mercy meant, let God have the same faith with him.
